Dalal Street witnessed bearish sentiment today with Nifty closing at 25,046.15, down by 0.25%. It opened at 25,079.75 and made a high of 25,192.50. Sensex opened at 81,899.51, made a high of 82,257.74, and closed at 81,773.66, down by 0.19%.
Reasons for the decline
The market declined due to several reasons:
- Profit booking in the banking, auto, FMCG, and real estate sectors after recent gains.
- Weak global cues led by the decline in the U.S. and Asian markets.

- Nifty Pharma was dragged down by the decline in stocks such as Sun Pharma, Cipla, Aurobindo Pharma, and Lupin.
- The Nifty Oil & Gas index saw a drop due to the sharp decline in stocks, including Reliance Industries, Petronet LNG, and Confidence Petroleum.
